Pastor John Monger and his family came to the United States in Austin, Texas on 09/08/2009. One month after they arrived, they started IRC in their apartment on 10/4/2009. Initially, there were three members: Pastor John, his wife, Tia, and his son, Joshua. Pastor John recalls his experience:
"We gathered at our apartment and cried before God. We were very new in the United States and went through a very difficult time. We were missing our home country and missing the ministry and church in Nepal and India. We were spending time in prayer and asking God to show us the way. We started sharing the gospel to our neighbors and friends. After a few days, Kamal Rai’s family accepted Christ. We started a family devotion at our apartment every night. Kamal’s family started growing in the Lord. After 6 months, we moved to apartment # 118 and started Sunday worship meetings. Souls started growing and our apartment room became filled with new believers. We started praying for a larger room and God answered our prayer after one year. God provided a worship room in Austin Cornerstone Church through Pastor Rick Randall. On January 9, 2011, we had our first Sunday worship service in room # 220. On the first day of our service at Austin Cornerstone Church, 3 people accepted Christ. Praise the Lord!"

John has a heart for the international people. He himself was a refugee in the United States and knows firsthand the challenges and struggles in this transition process. He has been blessed with reading skills, writing and speaking English. He helps refugees from different countries find jobs, drives them to doctors’ appointments, helps them fill out applications for food stamps and Medicaid, counsels families and prays for the sick. He serves the refugee community out of his love for Jesus Christ. He has a heart to plant Bhutanese-Nepali Christian churches in the United States and is preparing himself for the days ahead to go around the world to preach the Gospel.
